{"id":2519,"date":"2008-12-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-11T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.iaru-r2.org\/60th-anniversary-of-verona\/"},"modified":"2020-03-10T20:58:38","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T19:58:38","slug":"60th-anniversary-of-verona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/60th-anniversary-of-verona\/","title":{"rendered":"60<sup class=\"ordinal\">th<\/sup> Anniversary of <span class=\"caps\">VERONA<\/span>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/verona.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-202\" title=\"Verona\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/verona.jpg\" alt width=\"500\" height=\"303\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Member Society in the Netherland Antilles <a href=\"http:\/\/www.verona-club.eu\/\"><span class=\"caps\">VERONA<\/span><\/a> (Vereniging voor Experimenteel Radio Onderzoek in de Nederlandse Antillen) celebrated their 60<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary last November.<\/p>\n<p>Several personalities attended the event including Mr. Adrieans Minister of Telecommunication; Mr. de Canha Director of the Bureau Telecommunication <span class=\"amp\">&amp;<\/span>&nbsp;Post; Dr. Angel Ramirez from the Board of the Red Cross of Curacao: Dr. Whiteman representative of the Aruba Amateur Radio Club; and the Treasurer and Area E&nbsp;Director of the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2&nbsp;Mr. E. Donawa <span class=\"caps\">9Y4NED<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Adrieans, Minister of Telecommunication, during his speech indicated the desire of the government to include amateur radio in the <span class=\"caps\">ICT<\/span> initiative for the Country and requested that <span class=\"caps\">VERONA<\/span> carry on training in digital modes. <span class=\"caps\">VERONA<\/span> would be given the status of a&nbsp;technical school under the Education Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>VERONA\u2019s President Brett Ruiz <span class=\"caps\">PJ2BR<\/span> thanked the Red Cross for allowing them to have free of charge a&nbsp;room in their facility as club house, including their&nbsp;tower.<\/p>\n<p>President Brett Ruiz also thanked the Bureau Telecommunication <span class=\"amp\">&amp;<\/span>&nbsp;Post for helping amateur radio while defending our spectrum and for the donation of a&nbsp;digital repeater system.
