A&nbsp;lucky sign for this New Year is that we can at last see some sunspots that indicate there will be an improvement in the propagation of <span class=\"caps\">HF<\/span> bands. In my 60 years as a&nbsp;ham radio operator I&nbsp;had never seen such a&nbsp;lengthy absence of solar activity as in the last two&nbsp;years.<\/p>\n<p>I have the pleasant impression that in the year that is coming to an end there has been an increased participation of ham radio operators of the region in activities such as international contests, emergency exercises and, in some countries, more radio amateurs, as well as a&nbsp;greater presence of Member Societies in all these activities.
