{"id":2782,"date":"2017-03-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-03-02T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.iaru-r2.org\/barc-makes-ham-radio-demonstration-to-the-scouts-of-belize\/"},"modified":"2017-03-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-03-02T23:00:00","slug":"barc-makes-ham-radio-demonstration-to-the-scouts-of-belize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/barc-makes-ham-radio-demonstration-to-the-scouts-of-belize\/","title":{"rendered":"<span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span> Makes Ham Radio Demonstration To The Scouts Of Belize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/barc-scouts.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-3892\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/barc-scouts-150x113.jpg\" alt width=\"150\" height=\"113\"><\/a>The Belize Amateur Radio Club (<span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span>) successfully completed an \u00b4Introduction to Amateur Radio\u00b4 for the Scout Association of Belize on Sunday February 26,&nbsp;2017.<\/p>\n<p>The demonstration, held at the Scouts National Training Grounds, near Burrell Boom, was divided into four parts: <span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span>\u00b4s Goals for Amateur Radio in Belize, Educational Video, Hands-On Demonstration of Radio Equipment and a&nbsp;Question and Answer Session.<\/p>\n<p>Boys and girls of the Scouts Association from across Belize were participants in this first of its kind demonstration that represents a&nbsp;first step of cooperation between <span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span> and ScoutsBelize. This cooperation, both organizations agree, will provide beneficial results and acquired skills for everyone, especially the participating youth.<\/p>\n<p>After the demonstration, members of <span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span> volunteered to provide radios and corresponding equipment for the Scouts of Belize to fully participate in the Annual Jamboree On the Air (<span class=\"caps\">JOTA<\/span>) activities in October 2017. <span class=\"caps\">JOTA<\/span> is the largest Scouting event in the world held once a&nbsp;year. It uses Amateur Radio to link Scouts and hams around the world. Leaders of the Scouts Association openly accepted this voluntary offer from <span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span> members.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions at this first interactive demonstration also included establishing a&nbsp;permanent ham radio station for ScoutsBelize so that training can be held regularly on topics such as voice procedures, operating basics, simple theory and others.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the demonstration <span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span> President, Mr. Emil Rodriguez stated, \u00a8 As we move forward with our friendship and cooperation lets remember to use our radio skills wisely for the greater good of our nation, especially in times of emergencies such as hurricanes and flooding when we are needed most.\u00a8<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Belize Amateur Radio Club (<span class=\"caps\">BARC<\/span>) successfully completed an \u00b4Introduction to Amateur Radio\u00b4 for the Scout Association of Belize on Sunday February 26,&nbsp;2017.
