{"id":2925,"date":"2019-10-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-10-05T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.iaru-r2.org\/xx-general-assembly-of-iaru-region-2\/"},"modified":"2019-10-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-10-05T22:00:00","slug":"xx-general-assembly-of-iaru-region-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/xx-general-assembly-of-iaru-region-2\/","title":{"rendered":"<span class=\"caps\">XX<\/span> General Assembly of <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ce-2019-2022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5123\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ce-2019-2022-150x113.jpg\" alt width=\"150\" height=\"113\"><\/a>Final Press Release<\/p>\n<p>The 20<sup class=\"ordinal\">th<\/sup> General Assembly of <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2&nbsp;in Lima Peru ended on Wednesday, October 3,&nbsp;2019.<\/p>\n<p>Participating in the Assembly were a&nbsp;total of twenty member societies, fifteen of them present and the other five participating via proxy, as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Present<br> Canada United States Mexico Guatemala<br> El Salvador Colombia Trinidad <span class=\"amp\">&amp;<\/span>&nbsp;Tobago Curacao<br> Barbados Brazil Chile Argentina<br> Honduras Uruguay Peru<\/p>\n<p>By proxy:<br> Dominican Republic, proxy to El Salvador<br> Costa Rica, proxy to Honduras<br> Venezuela, proxy to&nbsp;Peru<br> Panama, proxy to Guatemala<br> Ecuador, proxy to Canada<\/p>\n<p>During the third plenary, the presidents and secretaries of the different working committees presented their proposals, which were analyzed and discussed and voted by the delegates.<\/p>\n<p>In administrative matters, the main issues addressed were the proposed modifications to the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2&nbsp;Constitution and Bylaws, which were all approved by the participating member societies to comply with current banking requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding band planning, the recommendation that 21,125 to 21,450 kHz in the 15-meter <span class=\"caps\">HF<\/span> band be used for satellite communications on a&nbsp;non-exclusive basis was accepted, which will be aligned with the allocations in the other regions and will be used for uplinks. The satellite coordination group proposed: a) the creation of a&nbsp;Satellite Communications Workshop; b) that a&nbsp;representative of the Satellite Coordination Panel be present in this Workshop; and c) that the Panel maintains communication with all <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> member societies.<\/p>\n<p>The Financial Committee analyzed the financial documentation and issued a&nbsp;favorable verdict regarding the approval of the financial statements and the approval of the budget for the next three years of operation.<\/p>\n<p>Proposed by Radio Club Argentino, and voted by the General Assembly, Buenos Aires will be the venue of the 21<sup class=\"ordinal\">st<\/sup> General Assembly in&nbsp;2022.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the meeting, the General Assembly carried out the election of Executive Committee members, and the following persons were elected for the next three&nbsp;years:<\/p>\n<p>Officers:<br> President Ram\u00f3n Santoyo, <span class=\"caps\">XE1KK<\/span><br> Vicepresident Jos\u00e9 Arturo Molina, <span class=\"caps\">YS1MS<\/span><br> Secretary George Gorsline, <span class=\"caps\">VE3YV<\/span><br> Treasurer John \u0093Jay\u0094 Bellows, <span class=\"caps\">K\u00d8QB<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Directors:<br> Director \u00c1rea A&nbsp;George Gorsline, <span class=\"caps\">VE3YV<\/span><br> Director \u00c1rea B&nbsp;John \u0093Jay\u0094 Bellows, <span class=\"caps\">K\u00d8QB<\/span><br> Director \u00c1rea C&nbsp;Ram\u00f3n Santoyo, <span class=\"caps\">XE1KK<\/span><br> Director \u00c1rea D&nbsp;Jos\u00e9 Arturo Molina, <span class=\"caps\">YS1MS<\/span><br> Director \u00c1rea E&nbsp;Tommy Chen,&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">9Y4T<\/span><br> Director \u00c1rea F&nbsp;Gustavo de Faria Franco, <span class=\"caps\">PT2ADM<\/span><br> Director \u00c1rea G&nbsp;Carlos Beviglia, <span class=\"caps\">LU1BCE<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This Executive Committee will start its functions on November 15 of this&nbsp;year.<\/p>\n<p>In the photo the new Executive Committee: Left to right: Carlos Beviglia, <span class=\"caps\">LU1BCE<\/span>; Jose Arturo Molina, <span class=\"caps\">YS1MS<\/span>; Ramon Santoyo, <span class=\"caps\">XE1KK<\/span>; Jay Bellows, <span class=\"caps\">K\u00d8QB<\/span>; Tommy Chen,&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">9Y4T<\/span>;<br> George Gorsline, <span class=\"caps\">VE3YV<\/span>; and Gustavo de Faria Franco, <span class=\"caps\">PT2ADM<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The General Assembly thanked Radio Club Peruano for hosting the Assembly and for their excellent organization and the help provided.<\/p>\n<p>In a&nbsp;subsequent Executive Committee meeting, outgoing President Reinaldo Leandro, <span class=\"caps\">YV5AM<\/span>, thanked Noel Donawa for his more than 20 years of volunteer service and Ernesto Syriani for his contribution as Area G&nbsp;Director, both will not continue as Executive Committee members. Then, he welcomed new members, explained them about the current working methodologies and encouraged member societies to participate more actively in the organization.
