On Saturday, July 31, 2020, a video conference tutorial on Winlink (WL2K<\/span>), sponsored by the ITU<\/span>, was presented, aimed at representatives of the telecommunications authority, radio amateurs (DARCI<\/span>) and other disaster response organizations from Dominica, following the installation of the RMS<\/span> Winlink node J73WIN<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The video conference had 20 attendees, including:<\/p>\n

  • Bennette Thomas, Director of Telecommunications, Government of Dominica<\/li>\n
  • Sylvester Cadette; ITU<\/span> Program Caribbean Officer (with office based in Barbados)<\/li>\n
  • Rodrigo Robles; ITU<\/span>\u2011D Program Officer in America (with office based in Honduras)<\/li>\n
  • Mike Burton, XE2<\/span> \/ N6KZB<\/span>, member of the Winlink Development Group<\/li>\n
  • Cesar Pio Santos, HR2P<\/span>, EMCOR<\/span> R2<\/span> Coordinator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The talk was given by Jonathan Remba, XE1BRX<\/span>, ITU<\/span> Winlink Project Expert for the Americas, covering topics related to Winlink network architecture, installation of RMS<\/span> Express software, and various formats for transmitting messages via e\u2011mail. Also there was a demonstration of transmission and reception of messages via HF<\/span> radio using the VARA<\/span> modality incorporated into WL2K<\/span>.<\/p>\n

    At the end of the video conference, Clement Pierre Louis, J73CPL<\/span>, thanked Dominica\u2019s telecommunications authorities and ITU<\/span> representatives for the invitation and support given to radio amateurs, and thanked the presenter for the excellent talk given<\/p>\n
