{"id":4899,"date":"2020-10-04T21:51:34","date_gmt":"2020-10-04T19:51:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/?p=4899"},"modified":"2020-10-04T22:09:24","modified_gmt":"2020-10-04T20:09:24","slug":"revised-iaru-region-2-band-plan-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/revised-iaru-region-2-band-plan-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Revised <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2&nbsp;Band Plan Now Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2020 revision of the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Band Plan is now available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/reference\/band-plans\/\">https:\/\/\u200bwww\u200b.iaru\u200b-r2\u200b.org\/\u200be\u200bn\u200b\/\u200br\u200be\u200bf\u200be\u200br\u200be\u200bn\u200bc\u200be\u200b\/\u200bb\u200ba\u200bn\u200bd\u200b-\u200bp\u200bl\u200ba\u200bns\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the change approved at the General Assembly meetings in Lima in October 2019 to add an Amateur Satellite uplink sub-band from 21125 to 21450 kHz on a&nbsp;non-exclusive basis, which matches similar changes in the Region 1&nbsp;and Region 3&nbsp;band plans.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a&nbsp;number of administrative changes have also been made to the text.&nbsp;The band plan itself has not been modified.&nbsp;These changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Modifications to the wording of the Band Plan to ensure that national regulators understand that it is a&nbsp;voluntary document, and that countries may make departures from the plan based on national requirements;<\/li>\n<li>Definitions additions: Amateur Radio Direction Finding (<span class=\"caps\">ARDF<\/span>), Primary service, Secondary service and several acronyms;<\/li>\n<li>Inclusion of information detailing the Primary and Secondary users in each Amateur band;&nbsp;and<\/li>\n<li>The correction of minor typographical errors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At its May 2020 meeting, the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Executive Committee added the following text to the Standard Operating Procedures regarding band planning.&nbsp;Prior to this change, Band Plan changes could only be approved at a&nbsp;General Assembly, held once every three years.&nbsp;This procedural change provides a&nbsp;process for the band plan to be updated to respond to changes in operating practice in a&nbsp;more timely manner while continuing full consultation with Member Societies.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Band Planning Committee Terms of Reference:<\/li>\n<li>Notwithstanding 5, 6, 7&nbsp;above, should the next meeting of the Conference [General Assembly] be more than 6&nbsp;months in the future, the Committee may circulate, with the approval of the <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Executive Committee, the proposed changes to Member Societies.&nbsp;Should no more than one objection be received within a&nbsp;60-day period, the change shall be deemed accepted and reported as such at the next Conference.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Band Planning Committee has a&nbsp;member from each of the seven <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Areas, one of which also serves as its Chair.&nbsp;Questions about the Band Plan or the Band Planning Committee can be directed to the appropriate area representative or to the Committee Chair, Alphonse Penney <span class=\"caps\">VO1NO<\/span> \/ <span class=\"caps\">VA1AVR<\/span> at <a href=\"mailto:alphonsepenney@gmail.com\">alphonsepenney@\u200bgmail.\u200bcom<\/a><\/p>\n<p>George Gorsline <span class=\"caps\">VE3YV<\/span>, <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Secretary<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2020 revision of the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Band Plan is now available at https:\/\/\u200bwww\u200b.iaru\u200b-r2\u200b.org\/\u200be\u200bn\u200b\/\u200br\u200be\u200bf\u200be\u200br\u200be\u200bn\u200bc\u200be\u200b\/\u200bb\u200ba\u200bn\u200bd\u200b\u2014\u2009p\u200bl\u200ba\u200bns\/.
