{"id":5154,"date":"2021-05-30T18:16:38","date_gmt":"2021-05-30T16:16:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/?p=5154"},"modified":"2021-05-30T18:16:38","modified_gmt":"2021-05-30T16:16:38","slug":"iaru-region-2-executive-committee-quarterly-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/iaru-region-2-executive-committee-quarterly-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"<span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2&nbsp;Executive Committee Quarterly Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Executive Committee (<span class=\"caps\">EC<\/span>) held its quarterly meeting on May 26 via Zoom.&nbsp;All Officers and Area Directors were in attendance, with the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Secretary and the <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Assistant to the Treasurer also present.<\/p>\n<p>President Ramon Santoyo <span class=\"caps\">XE1KK<\/span> opened the meeting with a&nbsp;remembrance for Reinaldo Leandro <span class=\"caps\">YV5AM<\/span> (<span class=\"caps\">SK<\/span>), immediate past President.&nbsp;He spoke of his long service to amateur radio in the Americas and his contributions as part of the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> delegation at 3&nbsp;World Radio Conferences.&nbsp;A&nbsp;moment of silence was observed.<\/p>\n<p>Major items before the Executive Committee included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dave Sumner <span class=\"caps\">K1ZZ<\/span> gave a&nbsp;report on recent <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> activities and items on the agenda of the upcoming Administrative Council meeting on June&nbsp;8<sup class=\"ordinal\">th<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<li>The current financial report and a&nbsp;discussion of the role of the Assistant to the Treasurer. Jay Bellows, <span class=\"caps\">K0QB<\/span> had resigned as Treasurer and Director of Area B (<span class=\"caps\">ARRL<\/span>).&nbsp;Mr. Rod Stafford <span class=\"caps\">W6ROD<\/span> I&nbsp;the new <span class=\"caps\">ARRL<\/span> international Affairs Vice President and will serve as Area B&nbsp;Director.&nbsp;The role of treasurer will be undertaken by Mr. Santoyo with the support of Mr. Bellows until the next officer elections at the 2022 General Assembly.<\/li>\n<li>The <span class=\"caps\">EC<\/span> formally adopted the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> branding policy. This includes that all regions and member societies use the same gold <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> logo to create a&nbsp;common unified identification of all <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> activities.&nbsp;In practical terms, this is the retirement of the red Region 2&nbsp;logo in favour of the gold <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> logo.&nbsp;The <span class=\"caps\">EC<\/span> set a&nbsp;deadline for all Member Societies that have not already changed to the gold logo, to do so by December 31,&nbsp;2021.<\/li>\n<li>A new <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2&nbsp;Awards Manager, Mr. Diego Salom <span class=\"caps\">LU8ADX<\/span> has been appointed to take over the responsibilities previously done by Mr. Leandro <span class=\"caps\">YV5AM<\/span> (<span class=\"caps\">SK<\/span>).<\/li>\n<li>Other business included a&nbsp;discussion of the impacts of the pandemic on the 2022 General Assembly meeting planning.
