{"id":5311,"date":"2022-02-11T16:40:53","date_gmt":"2022-02-11T15:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/?p=5311"},"modified":"2022-02-11T16:40:53","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T15:40:53","slug":"youth-on-the-air-camp-2022-application-period-opened","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/youth-on-the-air-camp-2022-application-period-opened\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth on the Air Camp 2022 Application Period Opened"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The application period for the second camp for young amateur radio operators in North, Central, and South America is now open at <a href=\"https:\/\/youthontheair.org\/\">YouthOnTheAir\u200b.org<\/a> .<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"caps\">WEST<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">CHESTER<\/span>, Ohio, February 11, 2022\u2009\u2014\u2009Applications are now being accepted for campers interested in attending Youth on the Air Camp.&nbsp;Licensed amateur radio operators ages 15 through 25 who want to attend are encouraged to apply online at <a href=\"https:\/\/youthontheair.org\/\">YouthOnTheAir\u200b.org<\/a>.&nbsp;The camp is scheduled to take place June 12 through June 17, 2022, at the National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting in West Chester Township (North Cincinnati), Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Applications should be submitted by <span class=\"caps\">2359Z<\/span> on March 1.&nbsp;Applications received after the deadline will be accepted until all 30 spots are filled.&nbsp;Applications received before the deadline will be given priority in the selection process.<\/p>\n<p>The application process is <span class=\"caps\">FREE<\/span>.&nbsp;A $100 deposit is required upon acceptance.&nbsp;Should a&nbsp;potential camper be unable to pay the $100 deposit, he or she may apply for a&nbsp;scholarship or waiver.&nbsp;Campers are also responsible for their own arrival and departure transportation to the camp hotel. Travel during camp events is provided. Travel assistance may also be available, especially for those traveling from outside of the&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">USA<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Campers will be selected by the committee and notified by March 15.&nbsp;To encourage attendance from across <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Region 2, allocations for campers are being held open for various areas of North, Central, and South America.&nbsp;If countries do not use their allocation or should someone within an allocation decline acceptance, those positions will be filled from the remaining pool of applicants. As this will be an ongoing process, everyone will not receive notification of acceptance at the same&nbsp;time.<\/p>\n<p>We know that changes in the <span class=\"caps\">COVID-19<\/span> pandemic status and <span class=\"caps\">CDC<\/span> guidelines between now and June will have an impact on our decision to host the camp.&nbsp;At this time, we have a&nbsp;high level of confidence that hosting the camp June 12\u2009\u2013\u200917, 2022 will be possible.
