{"id":5624,"date":"2022-09-22T17:06:27","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T15:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/?p=5624"},"modified":"2022-09-23T19:34:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T17:34:40","slug":"bulletin-6-region-2-general-assembly-countdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/bulletin-6-region-2-general-assembly-countdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Bulletin #6: Region 2&nbsp;General Assembly Countdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> virtual General Assembly will be held in evening sessions October 31 \u2013 November 4.&nbsp;Details at:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ga-iaru-r2.com\/registration\">https:\/\/\u200bga\u200b-iaru\u200b-r2\u200b.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are the Plenary sessions where the formal business of <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> is conducted.&nbsp;Tuesday and Thursday have parallel sessions for committee meetings.&nbsp;A&nbsp;full summary of each day\u2019s agenda is available on the Assembly website.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, there are parallel meetings of the Administrative Matters, Finance, and the Operational, Technical and Regulator (<span class=\"caps\">ORT<\/span>) committees.&nbsp;Of these, the committee least understood is the <span class=\"caps\">ORT<\/span>.&nbsp;Created for the Lima 2019 General Assembly, its purpose was to provide an open forum to discuss matters that didn\u2019t fall into a&nbsp;standing committee\u2019s mandate.&nbsp;It is an opportunity to raise matters which your Society feels are not receiving the focus they may need.&nbsp;Member Societies are encouraged to consider what items and ideas to be discussed.&nbsp;For example: satellites, or digital modes, or regulator relations or???&nbsp;As this is an ad hoc committee, a&nbsp;volunteer facilitator is also needed.&nbsp;Contact <a href=\"mailto:secretary@iaru-r2.org\">secretary@\u200biaru-\u200br2.\u200borg<\/a>) to either suggest a&nbsp;topic to be discussed or to be the session facilitator.<\/p>\n<p>The other committees meeting on Tuesday are Administrative Matters and Finance.&nbsp;Administrative Matters will receive the reports of all of the <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> Member Societies.&nbsp;For the first time, reports may be videos or written, with one video to be declared the \u201cBest of the Assembly.\u201d&nbsp;The Finance Committee members are appointed at the Monday (first) Plenary.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday is also reserved for committee meetings.&nbsp;The Administrative Matters committee will continue its reception of reports in parallel with discussion from some key committee chairs:&nbsp;Band Planning,&nbsp;Emergency Communications Coordinator, and Youth Liaison.&nbsp;This is envisioned to be a&nbsp;lively question-and-answer session offering in-depth follow up to the committee chairs\u2019 formal reports at the Wednesday (second) Plenary.<\/p>\n<p>Please note:&nbsp;Before registering, ensure that you have been appointed by your Member society to be on their delegation.&nbsp;The General Assembly is only open to <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> Member Societies in Region 2, the International Secretariat, and Regions 1&nbsp;and 3.&nbsp;Other requests will not be processed.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>George Gorsline <span class=\"caps\">VE3YV<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Secretary <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:secretary@iaru-r2.org\">secretary@\u200biaru-\u200br2.\u200borg<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> virtual General Assembly will be held in evening sessions October 31 \u2013 November 4.&nbsp;Details at:&nbsp;https:\/\/\u200bga\u200b-iaru\u200b-r2\u200b.com Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are the Plenary sessions where the formal business of <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> is conducted.&nbsp;Tuesday and Thursday have parallel sessions for committee meetings.&nbsp;A&nbsp;full summary of each day\u2019s agenda is available on the Assembly website.
