{"id":5652,"date":"2022-11-28T23:59:13","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T22:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/?p=5652"},"modified":"2022-11-28T23:59:13","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T22:59:13","slug":"bryan-rawlings-ve3qn-iaru-r2-wrc-delegate-honoured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iaru-r2.org\/en\/bryan-rawlings-ve3qn-iaru-r2-wrc-delegate-honoured\/","title":{"rendered":"Bryan Rawlings, <span class=\"caps\">VE3QN<\/span>, <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">R2<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">WRC<\/span> Delegate honoured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bryan Rawlings, <span class=\"caps\">VE3QN<\/span>, has been named to the Canadian Amateur Radio Hall of Fame.&nbsp;Radio Amateurs of Canada recognizes deserving Amateurs who have made \u201coutstanding achievement and excellence of the highest degree, for serious and sustained service to Amateur Radio in Canada, or to Amateur Radio at&nbsp;large\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>From 2006 until 2020, Bryan represented Canadian Amateur interests as the main <span class=\"caps\">RAC<\/span> contributor to the planning for and attendance at the International Telecommunications Union (<span class=\"caps\">ITU<\/span>) World Radio Conferences in 2012, 2015 and 2019.&nbsp;He worked closely with the <span class=\"caps\">IARU<\/span> delegation and played a&nbsp;key role in obtaining support for Amateur-related issues including successes in gaining access to both 60 metres and 630 metres. As a&nbsp;member of the Canadian national delegation at the <span class=\"caps\">ITU<\/span> meetings, he played an important role in the discussions, both in the meetings themselves and in side discussions that helped obtain support for these initiatives. His tact, diplomacy and the respect he was able to garner from delegates from other countries played no small part in reaching successful conclusions that benefited Amateurs worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Bryan Rawlings was first licensed as <span class=\"caps\">VE2AME<\/span> in 1959 and now signs <span class=\"caps\">VE3QN<\/span> from Ottawa.&nbsp;Bryan is active in several local Amateur Radio clubs in the Ottawa area and on the air on both <span class=\"caps\">HF<\/span> (<span class=\"caps\">CW<\/span>, <span class=\"caps\">SSB<\/span> and digital modes) and <span class=\"caps\">VHF<\/span> (<span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to <span class=\"caps\">RAC<\/span>.
