Amateur radio grows in Cuba

cuba-2016During 2015 the number of Cuban third class radio amateur grew with 538 new members who passed their exams.

The Ministry of Communications (MINCOM) together with the Federación de Radioaficionados de Cuba (FRC), IARU member society in that country, make two calls annually to screen applicants who request it and meet the requirements set. The FRC organizes preparatory courses at the Academies of Amateur Radio, operating in the Municipal Radio Clubs.

Thanks to these efforts, the FRC has maintained a steady growth in the number of radio amateur and now exceed 9000, which gives this Caribbean nation a high ratio between the number of amateur radio against total population.
