CRAG — First pilot project for Radio Amateurs novices

cragThe Guatemalan Amateur Radio Club (Club de Radioaficionados de Guatemala-CRAG) through its Secretary, Jorge Farid Abed TG9AAJ, has implemented the Amateur Radio Operator School (Escuela del Club de Radio Aficionados de Guatemala-ECRAG) which has the mission of teaching the aspiring newcomer to the wonderful world of Amateur Radio.

The school has put into use digital means to disseminate the information, via email for the various bulletins as well as Instant Messaging (WhatsApp), which enables the student to read the bulletins and be able to resolve any doubts in real time with the School representatives via instant message.

The School had its first workshop meeting on June 4th, at the Humanitarian Rescue Unit of the Guatemalan Army, kindly provided by cooperation and coordination of Lieutenant Coronel Pozuleos, where 28 students and 12 guests were among the participants, also some General Class Operators were in attendance to assist the School. The workshop consisted of theory reinforcement, going over the various bulletins that were disseminated prior to the workshop, as well as a hands on segment, in which a 40 Meter Band dipole was constructed.

Exams will be conducted at the Amateur Radio Club´s main office on Saturday June 11 and Saturday June 18. We wish all the best to all those attending.
