El Salvador connected to Winlink Network — May 2019

With the installation of equipment, antennas and software by Jonathan Remba, XE1BRX, from FMRE, with the help of José Arturo Molina from Club de Radio Aficionados de El Salvador (CRAS), and persons from ITU and SIGET (telecom regulator), the country is now part of the Winlink Network, thus completing the first phase of this project funded by the ITU to provide emergency communications in the continent.

This first stage comprised the Central American countries and the Dominican Republic. It is expected that the next stage will be implemented in the Caribbean.
