Exposure to EM Fields discussed in Brazil

py2zxLABRE, the Brazilian Amateur Radio League, was active during the last month in SET Expo Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

SET Expo Conference is the largest Latin American event in broadcasting and new media sectors. It consists of services and products trade show and a technical conference organized by SET, the Brazilian Society of Television Engineering, a non-profit technical and scientific association formed by companies and professionals.

Its prime objective is to further technical knowledge on electronic media chain, from production to delivery, including radio broadcasting.

This year the conference also promoted a discussion on technical and regulatory aspects of the human exposure to electrical, magnetic and electromagnetic fields.

Flavio Archangelo, PY2ZX, member of the LABRE´s Working Group on Spectrum Defense and Management, presented some ITU‑T Recommendations and a new proposal of regulation on that matter recently published for discussions by ANATEL, the Brazilian Telecommunications Agency.

According LABRE, some proposed compliance process and formulas are not full applicable to experimental characteristics of Amateur Radio Service. LABRE made contributions during the ANATEL public call, citing good examples of applied orientations to the amateurs used abroad.

This section of SET Expo was also joined by teachers and researchers of CPqD, UNICAMP, UNISAL and representatives of SET.

In the same week LABRE follow the first Latin America Congress of the Internet of Things, also happened in Sao Paulo. The estimative of billions of devices acting as sensors and wireless communications arose questions over Electromagnetic Compatibility. Several governmental entities, industry, researchers and makers were presented on the event.
