Thanks to Dr. Giancarlo Ibarguen, (ex TG9IZ) President of Universidad Francisco Marroquín (UFM), in Guatemala City and to Juan Carlos Muñoz TG9AJR, IARU Region 2 Monitoring Service Coordinator, an interesting conference promoting Amateur Radio took place in mid April at their campus.

Using videoconference Jim Talens N3JT and student Jonathan Coveney, who is working to obtain his callsign, both from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Ramon Santoyo XE1KK, IARU Region 2 Secretary, who was present at UFM, jointly talked about amateur radio to a group of more than 100 students who attend spontaneously.

Different radio amateur activities were discussed and at the end of the event a handful of students came closer to ask specific questions on how to become a radio amateur.

Also present in the event were Marco Tulio Gudiel TG9AGD, IARU Region 2 Director Area D; Marco Tulio Loarca, TG9ANM, IARU Emergency Coordinator Area D who were also representing CRAG, IARU member society in Guatemala.
