FRC 2014-11The third week of November 2014 the Federación de Radioaficionados de Cuba and IARU Region 2 paid a visit to the Cuban Ministerio de la Informática y de las Comunicaciones.

At this meeting, top right photo, were present the Vice Minister of Communications Ing. Manuel Martinez Montes de Oca and Lic. Yunier Cabrera, Head of Department of International Organizations. By the FRC attended its President Pedro Rodríguez CO2RP and by IARU Region 2 its Vice-President Ramon Santoyo, XE1KK.

During this event several issues were discussed among them the impressive growth in recent years of licensed radio amateurs in Cuba, the internet and intranet services that the FRC provide them, emergency communications and the 5 MHz band.

Vice President Santoyo voiced his appreciation to the Vice Minister for the support of the Ministry to FRC in favor of amateur radio. Also publicly acknowledged the good performance of the Federation of Radio Amateurs of Cuba under the direction of Pedro Rodríguez CO2RP.

Later, in the headquarters of FRC, a meeting of IARU R2 with FRC’s National Executive took place. In this meeting the above topics were reviewed. A demonstration of the amazing web site that the FRC offers its nationals also took place. This intranet contains discussion forums, technical information, DX cluster, Keplerian elements, propagation analysis in real time, affiliate directory, etc. The computer site of the FRC was visited, top left photo.

After the meeting the FRC hosted a dinner in which the attendees and their companions enjoyed the widely acclaimed Cuban cuisine and hospitality.

Besides those mentioned were also present Felix Peralta Benitez CL2YPV, administrative head of FRC; Pedro Brito Ruiz, CL2PBR; Juan Miguel Montero, network administrator; Rogelio Garcia Rivas; Ana Sánchez Sánchez and Dianelkis García Hernández.
