On behalf of the IARU Region 2 Executive Committee, I am pleased to send this notice of the XIX General Assembly of IARU Region 2, to be held in Viña del Mar, Chile, from October 10 to 14, 2016. This Assembly may also be referred to as Viña 2016. The host society for the Assembly will be Radio Club de Chile.
Important issues regarding the promotion and defense of amateur radio will be discussed at Viña 2016, with special emphasis on band plans for HF, VHF and higher frequencies, as well as other issues of importance to Member Societies within Region 2.
It is a responsibility of all Region 2 Member Societies to attend the regional assembly; therefore, we request that you form a delegation consisting of your own members, including a Head of Delegation or Head Delegate, who will hold your societys vote. All members of your delegation will be able to participate actively in the assembly, including taking part in the work of the assemblys working committees. Therefore, societies are encouraged to have enough members in their delegation in order to participate in all the various working committees of the assembly.

Further information will be sent soon by email to the delegates. Therefore, it is important that each society notifies the Secretary of Region 2 the names and email addresses of those persons that will likely attend Viña 2016. Pre-registered delegates will receive the password to access the assemblys document section.
