33rd. meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee II (CITEL)

The 33rd. meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee II of the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (abbreviated CITEL in Spanish) is being held during this week of April 8 – 12 in the city of Monterrey N.L. México, with Mexico as the chairman of this Committee under the organization of the Mexican telecom regulator, Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT).

These meetings are a preparation for the World Radio Conference (WRC) that will be held this year in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Attending the meeting were Flavio Archangelo, PY2ZX, of IARU-R2, Jonathan Sirverling, WB3ERA, of ARRL and Alfonso Tamez, XE2O, of FMRE. Among the workshops and conferences where the most impressive technologies in radio communications in OAS member countries are presented, our mission is always to safeguard the interests of amateur radio, not only of Mexico but of the entire world.

We are grateful for the attention provided by IFT to the group of representatives of amateur radio. In mutual coordination, we will reach significant legislative progress in our country.

Alfonso Tamez, XE2O
