This starting year will be a very important one for IARU Region 2 with the celebration of its XVII General Assembly in El Salvador from October 4th to 8th.
We are sure that this trianual event will be a success with the invaluable support form our friends from Club de Radioaficionados de El Salvador (CRAS).
The preliminary work for a General Assembly, for both Region 2 and its Member Societies, start many months before the event actually takes place.
Considering this its important that the board of directors of the Member Societies receive IARU-R2-News since we will be informing here the advances of the event.
We also ask you to visit regularly our webpage and very soon the new El Salvador 2010 webpage.
From our Member Societies we expect to receive proposals from diverse topics. We will need to work on issues like the review of our band plan, emergency communications and monitoring service among others.
We wish to have in El Salvador the attendance of the majority of our Member Societies and that they do so with numerous and participative teams. This is not achievable from one day to the next one so we invite you to start, as soon as possible, your preliminary planning for this event.
Its important to mention that on the General Assembly we will have the election of the 9 members of IARU Region 2 Executive Committee for the next tree years.
Its advisable that Member Societies carefully evaluate the work of the actual members, and depending of their results support their reelection or propose new candidates.
IARU Region 2 advancements are the result of the work of voluntary radio amateurs that help to preserve our activity as members of the Executive Committee, Regional or Area Coordinators or leading a Member Society.
We are all IARU Region 2 and your personal work adds value to the teams work. We invite you to participate actively.
