The IARU R2 Executive Committee held its quarterly meeting on May 12. The major item of business was discussing plans for the triennial General Assembly. The on-going health, travel and economic impacts of the pandemic have created too much uncertainty to hold the 2022 General Assembly in Buenos Aires either as an in-person or as a hybrid (combination in-person and virtual) event.
After a review of recommendations of the committee of previous General Assembly hosts plus the President and Secretary, the Executive Committee approved holding the meetings as an all virtual event, in five evening sessions, October 31 – November 4. By removing the need for costly travel and holding sessions in the evening, this creates an opportunity for all Member Societies to participate fully. Additional information will be available as arrangements are ongoing, including the web site for registration, Society and Committee report format and submission deadlines, nominations for Officers and Directors, election procedures, and selection of the venue for the 2025 General Assembly.
