RCD: You can also become a radio amateur

The headquarters of the Fire Department of the city of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic was the place in which members of the Radio Club Dominicano talked to young aspiring radio amateurs that include members of the local Fire Department, Civil Defense and the Red Cross.

The speech titled “You can also become a radio amateur” was given by Vantroi Peña HI8VPB (on the photo with the microphone in hand) and Luis A. Mena HI8LAM on Saturday, January 17th, 2009. They emphasized the role of Amateur Radio in emergency situations.

Brigadier General Carlos Tomas Ramos welcomed and thanked the members of the Radio Club Dominicano as well as Mayor Santana Director of the Fire Academy and liaison with the Radio Club.

A large delegation of Radio Club Dominicano was also present including RCD President Hugo Ramon HI8VRS, Víctor Báez HI8VB, Victor Hugo Soñé HI8HS, Luís Beltrán HI8LIB, Jose Gil HI8JSG, David Flores HI8DBF and Alan Sisa HI8ASU.

After the event the Radio Club Dominicano delegation was greeted with a delicious lunch.
