61a. CENTRAL AMERICAN CONVENTION HELD VIRTUALLY, NOVEMBER 5 – 7, 2021

The 61st. Convention of the Federation of Amateur Radio Clubs of Central American and Panama (FRACAP) was opened by its General Secretary, José Arturo Molina, YS1MS, last Friday, November 5. Due to Due to health measures due to COVID-19, it was necessary to celebrate the Convention, an annual tradition in the Central American countries, virtually.

With an attendance of up to 51 people from 11 countries, the Convention was considered interesting and successful as expressed by some attendees, to the satisfaction of its organizers. Complementing the regular working sessions were a total of 5 presentations on topics such as the future of amateur radio, satellites, portable operations in HF and emergencies, all by renowned presenters.

In addition to the sessions on the Zoom platform, facilitated by IARU-R2, the event was simultaneously broadcast through the website of the Amateur Radio Club of El Salvador, CRAS (www​.ys1ys​.org), host country, the YouTube channel “CRAS El Salvador” and the Echolink FRACAP room.

The venue chosen for next year was Costa Rica and colleagues from the Central American region hope to be able to hold their next convention in person.
